New Green Mortgage products launched11/01/2008
Two new green mortgages have been introduced into the mortgage market by one of the UK’s biggest mortgage provider.
First to market Halifax is offering these products only to specific customers who intend to purchase the new home from particular homebuilders. The exiting new products bring a host of benefits to the borrower including extensions in completion dates right up to February 2009 and not to mention some excellent competitive rates.
Berkeley Homes, Countryside Properties, Taylor Wimpey and Crest Nicholson have been named the as the sustainable homebuilders where people can buy their homes from in order to qualify for application of the new products.
These new innovative products have the stamp of approval and backing by WWF and the Home Builders Federation. The support from these organising clearly looks at the positive and fresh move by Halifax to contribute in the Governments objectives and goals of achieving zero carbon homes. The Governments plan for achieving this set for the year 2016, some critics believe that this is an optimistic target.
Offering a rewarding range of green mortgage products for consumers who are committed and concerned about the environmental impact seems to be a key driver on this launch.
The head of the Halifax new build team, Andrew Bowes, commented “We are actively involved in sustainable housing. Our focus has always been on encouraging homebuilders and homeowners to be more energy efficient. Launching an exclusive set of products to support this is the next logical step."
